We’ve all missed racing… so very much. Norfolk Gazelles understand that the race calendar won’t be the same for many months to come, but we also know that so many of you want to get out there and put your lockdown training to use.

For months, we’ve been planning, researching and exploring ways we could stage our regular February road race in a genuinely Covid-secure way. We’ve worked closely with the Norfolk Showground, a venue that provides room to accommodate runners safely, enough car parking and space to stage the event in waves. Safety of runners is our top priority.

We understand that some of you still feel wary about racing, and that’s more than fair enough – Covid has changed our world and the way we interact with one another. However, we also know that many runners are ready to race again, so we’ve done our best to create Covid-appropriate conditions to operate an event.

So… we are really proud to announce that Norfolk Gazelles’ Valentine's 10km will take place on Sunday 23 May at the Norfolk Showground. Parts of the route will be familiar to anyone who’s run it before, and we’ll have road closures in place in certain areas, as well as marshals at every corner. The race will be officially chip-timed.

Runners will set off in waves from 08.20-11.40am. There will be limited runners in each wave and we expect all participants to observe social distancing protocols. Understandably, there won’t be a water station out on the route, so please provide your own hydration if you need it.

The Valentine's 10k is a real chance to recapture the amazing spirit of our local race calendar, and we will work hard as organisers to implement and respect Covid regulations. And if you don’t feel ready to race again, that’s totally understandable. Hopefully you’ll feel able to return to the local racing scene later in the year.
