Description: You can take part in the Dambusters 80th Anniversary 80km challenge by simply running, jogging, walking or cycling a total of 80km, at times of your choice between 1st April and 30 June 2023. Keep a log of your distances building up to 80K (approx. 50 miles) during the period that the event is open.

What Are We Commemorating: The commemoration marks the 80th anniversary of the Operation Chastise, the epic raid by 617 Sqn RAF on the Mohne, Edersee and Sorpe dams, which took place on the night of the 16/17th May 1943, utilising the revolutionary ‘bouncing bomb’ designed by the Barnes Wallis. A total of 53 aircrew lost their lives and 8 aircraft were destroyed on the raid.

What Medal Do I Receive: All entrants, on completion of their iconic 80 km  anniversary challenge, will receive a unique Dambusters commemoration medal and certificate.

How Do I Get My Commemorative Medal: Medals will be issued at the end of the entrance period. To receive yours simply email marham10K@gmail.com on completion of your 80km and your unique Dambusters commemorative medal will be posted to you.

What Charity Is Being Supported: All funds raised by the event will be donated to RAF Central Funds which is an independent charity that supports serving RAF personnel through grant funding to enable them to take part in sports and physical activities at all levels.

The charity is dedicated to ensuring everyone in the RAF regardless of their role, rank, physical ability or competing level to have access to sports facilities, equipment and to training while helping to safeguard their health and wellbeing.
