Marathon

A source-to-sea route on one of England’s longest rivers, it follows the River Great Ouse on its meandering passage from close to its source to the tidal river at Kings Lynn, linking many towns and villages. In the old county of Huntingdonshire, the route is 26 miles long – with a bit of tweaking the Organisers have created a scenic route from Earith to Eynesbury, running along the river, sometimes on the banks, occasionally a field or so away. Being near the Fens, this is a flat route, through meadows, small villages, historic towns and nature reserves. The route is a mix of grass, gravel and tarmac paths.

The Marathon is a gun start in waves, from Earith, High Street (Start Grid Reference: TL 386 748), to One Leisure, Eynesbury (Finish Grid Reference: TL183 590).  A 26.2 mile run along the beautiful Ouse Valley Way in Huntingdonshire

Half Marathon Relay

The Half Marathon Relay has two stages with the changeover in Godmanchester, which is not quite halfway.  Relay teams of 2 will be issued numbers in consecutive order.  The time of the handover will be recorded automatically, which will enable the first and second stage time to be calculated.  Each relay must comprise 2 runners and the Race Director will need to know which runner is intending to start; the second runner will be expected to be at the handover point at the right time – there is no relay baton to be carried.

Transport

The race is a point-to-point race.  There will be a bus from the FINISH at Eynesbury to the start at Earith.  The bus will leave promptly at 0830 and late arrivals will miss the race.  Runners must have prebooked the bus at a cost of £8 to be able to use this service.

Entries close Friday 7th September.
